Thematic report on Age and employment

A new thematic report on age discrimination has now been published by the European Network of Legal Experts in the field discrimination. The report “Age and Employment” authored by Declan O’Dempsey and Anna Beale examines some practical aspects of the implementation of the prohibition of age discrimination enshrined in the Employment Equality Directive (Directive 2000/78/EC) in all EU Member States and 2 candidate countries (Croatia and Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia).

In particular, the report contrasts national legislation of the countries covered by this study and considers how the different ways in which the various exceptions, or potential exceptions, to the principle of equal treatment are phrased in the Directive have influenced national legislation on age discrimination.
